I had to re-install Windows 8.1 on my laptop, since some system files got corrupted, and I couldn’t load YouTube properly.
It appears as though I had lost the Hewlett-Packard Quick Start tile. After about an hour of scouring the Internet, I found a website that has it. It’s “official” file name is sp59485.exe .
As long as you can go past all of the requests to change your toolbars and all that other ad shit, here it is:
I know a lot of people knock any kind of return to the Windows START button, but Hewlett-Packard has done it right. Too bad that when I re-installed Windows 8.1 from scratch it had to vanish.
EDIT: TO ACTUALLY INSTALL THE “ROCKETSHIP” ONTO YOUR TASK BAR:
I accidentally unpinned this piece of shit, go to the lower left-hand corner of your screen, right-click, get the SEARCH function, and type in QUICK. When you find the “rocketship”, you can get it back on the START menu and then re-pin it.
The way to get the “rocketship” icon back onto the Task Bar is to right-click the Task Bar, choose Toolbars, New Toolbar, and then choose the “x64” folder in the HP Quick Launch folder.
The “rocketship” will then be on the Task Bar. Remember to pin it.
EDIT 2: I don’t know what the deal is, but you have to get your hands on sp59485.exe . The link I gave above is squirrelly. As long as you get your hands on this specific .exe file, you will get your HP Quick Start tile right away, you won’t even have to hunt for it like I noted above.
