I was just watching the NBC Nightly News on TV. They had a segment on how colleges are now being “creative” (read: cute and stupid) with the essays they are making applicants answer. (E.g. from the worthless University of Chicago: “What does Play-Doh have to do with Plato?”) One woman who was being interviewed “explained” the reason for this idiocy: “They’re looking for the next Bill Gates.”
FYI, Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard after his freshman year because he didn’t think that college was worth his time. Also remember that Bill Gates’ parents were both wealthy and successful lawyers.
Shows you how STUPID the people working for colleges in America are. But then again, I think that we should all follow Bill Gates’ example. That is, if college isn’t worthwhile or how you want to spend the best years of your life, find something else to do. Something that won’t put you into debt to the tune of $200,000.
Just a thought.
